History

In 1961 the Muscle Shoals Sailing Club was established on beautiful Lake Wilson by a group of men and women dedicated to the art of sailing. As a nonprofit organization, we provide sailing through instruction, regattas, races, family sailing and fun events.

Our membership is comprised of individuals and families between the ages of 18 and 90 who sail a variety of boats. Twenty-five boats are 20 to 30 foot cruiser sloops and twenty-some are 13 to 19 foot dinghies of different classes. Most members are from the Florence and Huntsville areas.

Muscle Shoals Sailing Club is the only sailing club on Wilson Lake. We are located on the north side of the lake at mile 271.5 of the Tennessee River or approximately 2 miles below Wheeler Dam at old Lock 4 Slough. Our clubhouse sits on 20 acres of picturesque wooded lake-front offering spectacular sunsets and a relaxing atmosphere. Facilities include a campground for RV's and tenting, boat ramp, buoy anchoring, boat slips, small boat storage, boat trailering a kitchen, and showers.

We welcome your inquiries, your questions and a visit by you and your family and friends to our sailing club. And we look forward to having your family and friends as members of the Muscle Shoals Sailing Club.
